So, as I figured would happen, Messi has come away with the Bd’Or. I didn’t want it that way, as I have appreciated Iniesta and Xavi far better this year, but, I still expected the Messi result. He is in the more glamorous position, gets all the goals and disappeared during the WC. The reason he disappeared during the WC is because his mates from Barca play for a different national team. Oh yeah, that’s right, Spain. The team that won the WC. While you can’t take away from the fact that Messi has amazing grace and ability with the ball, he has to get the ball from someone else – Xavi and Andres. Just this past year, Xavi was rated best midfielder in the world by his peers. He is deserving of the merit. His finely weighted passes and chameleon eyes can find the open man like no one else. We are currently watching greatness. And he certainly has plenty of time left to ply his witchcraft. I can see him becoming more skillful in the time he has left in the game.
Sin Iker – what can you say? His grace and countenance are superb. What a leader. He might make a fine coach someday. He seems to rub off on everyone he plays with.
